Susan Brown Siegel grew up accompanying her father, Steve Brown, as he would visit clients’ homes on the weekend—picking up packages, delivering swatches of fabrics, anything he could do to help them, even if it wasn’t part of the company’s services. Add the fact that she spent many years growing up in the family store and watching her mother, Dana, tend to each of their own homes as they would often move to a new residence, and it’s no surprise that today, Susan is more involved with the family business than ever.
As Vice President, she wears many hats to support the business in any capacity it needs, including marketing and vendor management, procurement, and event management. With deep knowledge of Brown’s culture and legacy and an eye for detail, the theme of her work is to ensure things are done with the same vision and thoughtfulness that have kept Brown in business for over 45 years.
But perhaps her favorite part of the job—aside from carrying on her father’s legacy of unparalleled client care—is accompanying the designers on their photoshoots and seeing everything they’ve worked on, for years in some cases, come to life. She grew up in the business, indeed, but now she’s part of the business and looking forward to watching Brown evolve and change in a way that would make her father proud.
